Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks softball team suffered a pair of losses at the Lyon College Invitational Saturday in Batesville.
Ozarks (0-2) dropped game one 7-4 against William Penn and then suffered a 16-1 setback in game two against Evangel University.
In game one, William Penn jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one inning of play and then added two more scores to hold a 5-1 advantage. The Lady Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the third on a Reagan Littlefield two-run homer. It wouldn’t be enough though as William Penn got both runs back in the sixth to push its lead to 7-3. Tabitha McClane doubled in a run in the seventh.
Miah Williams finished 2-for-4 and Littlefield led the team with two runs batted in.
Amber Rollins (0-1) took the loss.
In game two, Evangel University added eight runs in the second inning to a 3-0 lead, putting the game out of reach early on. The Lady Eagles produced just three hits in the game. Whitney Price (0-1) took the loss.
Ozarks will travel to Farmers Branch, Texas, to play four games in the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament March 1-2.
