Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks athletic department will recognize all of its current student-athletes and three university professors on April 6 at 11:30 a.m. in Seay Cafeteria as part of the National STUDENT-Athlete Day celebration.
Ozarks will be among hundreds of universities and high schools around the country recognizing their student-athletes on Thursday. Athletics Director Dave De Hart will honor three Ozarks professors during the lunch for their outstanding contributions to student-athletes. Ozarks has some 135 students participating in varsity athletics. National STUDENT-Athlete Day has become a nationally celebrated day to honor student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics, while making significant contributions to the community and was created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and Northeastern University’s Sport in Society. It is co-sponsored by the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Since, 1997 over 2 million college and high school student-athletes have received recognition on National STUDENT-Athlete Day.
