Art major presents several mixed media pieces as she prepares for a teaching career.

CLARKSVILLE, ARK. (Jan. 10, 2006) -- An Ozarks student’s unique creations will be one of the attractions at Bang!Creative Explosion, an art festival held this weekend in Fort Smith. Laura Hill, a senior art major from Ozark, Ark., plans to present several artworks of mostly mixed media. Some of the pieces Hill also showed at her gallery show fall semester on the Ozarks campus. Bang! begins Friday evening at 5 p.m., and continues Saturday from 1-10 p.m, at the Belle Grove Schoolhouse Apartments, 600 N. 6th St. The festival also features music, fashion shows and children’s activities. Admission is $3, with proceeds going to the Fort Smith Public Schools’ art departments. Hill, who transferred to Ozarks in order to study in the art program, said she is pleased how her art is developed while at Ozarks. "The art (program) was real hands-on," said Hill. "It was fun to explore what I could do." Hill, who is minoring in education, said she hopes to teach elementary school after she graduates in May.
