Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles dropped three American Southwest Conference games to UT-Dallas over the weekend in Richardson, Texas.
The Comets (27-4, 13-2) gained three wins, defeating the Eagles 1-0, 3-0 and 15-3 during the series. In Saturday’s game, the Comets scored 11 runs in the third inning and added two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to hand the Eagles (13-20, 2-13) the loss. Ozarks scored three runs in the eighth when Josh Underwood and Frankie Collazo knocked in runs. Underwood scored later in the inning on a wild pitch. The Eagles collected seven hits in the contest, the most of three-game series. Brian Potts (0-1) received the loss. The Comets came up with the game-winning hit in their final at-bat in Friday’s first game and gained a 1-0 victory over Ozarks. The Eagles had two hits in the contest, one each from Anthony Brandon and Rusty Farrin. Brian Heckmann (2-4) received the loss after pitching six and one-third innings while giving up six hits and striking out three batters. The Eagles dropped Friday’s second game, 5-0, as the Comets scored two runs in the third and three runs in the sixth. Ozarks had five hits in the game, with Caleb Hilton recording a team-best two hits. Only three of the Comets five runs were earned. Trevor Holbert (0-2) received the loss. He pitched five innings and struck out four.
