Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles moved into a first-place tie in the American Southwest Conference East Division with a 85-80 win over University of Texas-Tyler on Thursday night in Tyler, Texas.

The Eagles (6-9, 3-1) took a 79-77 lead after a Jacob Sibley jumper with 4:25 remaining in the game and never relinquished it as Ozarks gained a five point victory over the Patriots (2-12, 0-4) in a key conference match-up. Sibley’s basket combined with late free throw opportunities lifted the Eagles past a pesky Patriots team that out rebounded Ozarks 38-35. Ozarks held a 37-36 lead at halftime behind a balanced scoring attack that saw nine different players get in the scoring column. Josh Joyner hit three free throws down the stretch and Ozarks’ defense held the Patriots scoreless in the last 2:36 of the game to seal the win. Brent Johnson led the team with 22 points, marking the fourth straight game he has scored at least 20 points. Sibley recorded a season-high 15 points while Josh Joyner added 11 points. Mike Taylor and Caleb Hilton had 10 points apiece. Joyner and Tyler Field had a team-best 7 rebounds. The Eagles travel to Richardson, Texas, to face UT-Dallas in ASC action on January 24.
