Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's and women's tennis teams produced a strong showing in the American Southwest Conference Singles/Doubles Tournament September 16-18 at Summers Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler.
The tourney, being played in September for the sixth straight year, featured a ten-flight singles format for the men and an eight-flight format for the women. The men will play a five-flight doubles format, while the women will go four. UT Tyler and head coach Chris Bizot will served as host.
Ozarks posted 18 overall wins in the tournament, a major improvement from a year ago. Freshman Jordan King won singles flight #5 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Shannon Ladd. King won his semifinal match over Jonathan Cruz. On the women’s side, freshman Nicole Cook won singles flight #4 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Karissa Lopez. Cook won her semifinals match over Whitney Turnacliff 6-4, 6-3.
