CLARKSVILLE, Ark.-The U of O Eagles (10-19, 5-13) baseball team fell to Central Baptist College (8-26), 8-5 and 8-3, in non-conference action on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at Hurie Field.

With temperatures hovering in the mid-30’s, the Eagles bats remained cold throughout the day as Ozarks managed only six hits in game one and four hits in game two. In the first game of the double-header, the Eagles scored all five of their runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the fifth. Ozarks bats warmed up as the Eagles collected four of their six hits and all of their RBI’s in the bottom half of the fourth. A Rusty Farrrin RBI single scored Justin Brown to give Ozarks their first score of the contest. B.J. Greene followed Farrin’s hit with a single of his own to add two more runs. Brian Heckmann continued the scoring drive with an RBI double to score Greene. Brett Hays would record the final RBI of the inning. The Mustangs, however, countered with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to gain the victory. Freshman pitcher JC Spillman started the game and was relieved by John Honeycutt (0-1) who received the loss. Farrin led the team with two hits while Greene recorded a team-best two RBI. The second game saw the Mustangs jump out to a 4-0 lead after three innings of play. The Eagles got on the board in the fourth after a Sean Pratt RBI single. The Eagles would close the gap to 5-3 in the sixth, but CBC would tack on three scores in the final inning of play to seal the win. The Eagles tallied four hits while the Mustangs cranked out 12. Hays, Pratt, Anthony Brandon and Cliff Ford recorded one hit each. Pratt led the squad with two RBI. Nathan Moore pitched four innings and struck out four batters while Justin Dixon put in three innings of work. Moore (1-2) received the loss. The Eagles will play host to UT-Dallas April 11 and 12 in three American Southwest Conference contests this weekend.
