No. 13 ETBU Powers Past Lady Eagles

Clarksville, Ark.-No. 13 East Texas Baptist University hit six home runs to power past the Lady Eagles in an American Southwest Conference double-header sweep Friday.

ETBU (24-6, 12-2 ASC) hit four home runs in a 9-1 game one victory and then followed up with two more homers in a 8-0 game two win. In game one, Lacy Liles supplied a two-run homer in the first inning to help the Lady Tigers own a 3-0 advantage after the first. Ali Mathis laced an RBI single in the bottom of the third to trim the deficit to 3-1. But ETBU cranked out two home runs in the fifth to build a 8-1 lead.

Amber Rollins (7-7) suffered the loss. She struck out seven. Tori Lemieux went 2-for-2.

Ozarks (10-20, 3-15 ASC) then went hitless until the sixth when Lemieux broke up the no-hitter with a double. ETBU held just a 2-0 lead through five innings, but the Lady Tigers posted two runs in the sixth to take the game’s momentum.

The Lady Eagles would collect just two hits and strike out 12 times. Tabitha McClane (2-6) took the loss.

Ozarks will conclude its series against ETBU tomorrow in a double-header beginning at noon. Senior Ali Mathis will be honored prior to the game as part of “Senior Day.”
