Clarksville, Ark. ---The University of the Ozarks will present "Martha Hannah, Medieval Teller of Tales" at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, as part of the 2003-2004 Walton Arts & Ideas Series.

Hannah’s performance of medieval English stories, comedy and song is the first event of this academic year for the Walton Program. This year’s theme is "A Tour of the British Isles." With a cockney accent and clad in period costume, Hannah, as the hilarious Maid Martha, takes audiences back to an earlier time by weaving a vivid verbal picture of medieval history, fantasy and ghost stories in this entertaining and educational show designed for the whole family. Versatile and dynamic and with a love for working with a live audience, she draws the audience in and brings them on stage with hilarious results. "Martha’s expressiveness, vitality, great knowledge of Medieval England, beautiful singing voice and great choice of musical accompaniment all added up to a rollicking good time," wrote one reviewer of her show. "Children and adults enjoyed an amazing and fun performance." An avid arts-in-education advocate, Hannah is a veteran professional character actor. She is a performing artist on the touring roster with the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission’s Arts in Education roster and the Mid-America Arts Alliance’s Heartland Arts Fund Program. Tickets for the performance, which will be held in the Walton Fine Arts Center on the Ozarks campus, are $10 each and can be purchased at the box office on the evening of the show.
