?Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks' 2001-02 Walton Arts & Ideas Series will present "Kathak Dance of North India" at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Walton Fine Arts Center on campus.

Performed by the Katha Dance Theatre based in Minnesota, this beautiful and graceful Indian classical dance is derived from the word "Katha," meaning story. This spontaneous art form is characterized by rhythmic footwork, flowing gestures, colorful costumes and the blending of music, dance and storytelling. It is an art form which originated in the ancient temples of India and eventually found its way to the royal courts. Today, the Katha Dance Theatre is keeping these colorful traditions alive. This fascinating evening of dance will take audience members on a journey from the temples, to the royal palaces, to modern India where they will discover the origins, as well as the future, of this exotic art. It will be an adventure the whole family can enjoy. ?? Individual tickets to the performance are $10. For more information, please call (501) 979-1346.
