Clarksville, Ark. --- Jacqueline Jurcik, a sophomore theatre major from Dover, Ark., was crowned the 2009 Miss University of the Ozarks during the annual pageant held Nov. 7 on the U of O campus.
Jurcik, the daughter of Ray and Carol Jurcik, beat out eight other contestants to win the pageant. During the talent portion of the competition, Jurcik performed her own monologue in which she reproduced animal noises and other sound effects. The contestants were also judged on a backstage interview, casual wear, formal wear and an on-stage interview. Jurcik won a $125 cash prize for winning the title.
Jurcik is a 2008 graduate of Dover High school. At U of O, she is a member of the University Players and served on the wardrobe crew in the Theatre Department’s production of Soccer Moms earlier this semester. Jurcik’s parents own and operate Endless Creations, a company that designs and produces crowns and tiaras for beauty pageants throughout the country.
