Jones Learning Center Director Julia Frost will be one of the featured speakers at the annual conference of the Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas (LDAA), scheduled for Saturday, March 9, in North Little Rock, Ark.
Jones Learning Center Director Julia Frost will be one of the featured speakers at the annual conference of the Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas on March 9.
Frost has worked with the University of the Ozarks’ JLC for the past 24 years. The title of her talk is "Stories that have Touched Me," which chronicles some of the students she has encountered in her work with the JLC.
"The stories from college students with learning disabilities can be especially poignant and can help us to understand the challenges and feelings of others with similar disabilities who may not have the verbal skills to share them," Frost said.
The 2013 LDAA conference will be held at Pulaski Technical College and is designed to help parents, teachers and other professionals learn the latest treatment and teaching strategies for individuals with learning disabilities. The conference features Nancy Coffman, director of outreach and training for the Shelton School and Evaluation Center in Dallas.
The Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas is a non-profit, volunteer organization for parents and professionals devoted to defining and pursuing solutions to the broad spectrum of learning disorders. LDAA is a state affiliate of the Learning Disabilities Association of America and was chartered in 1963.
