Julia Frost, director of the University of the Ozarks’ Jones Learning Center, will make several presentations at the 2017 Learning Disabilities Association of America’s (LDAA) international conference in Baltimore, scheduled for Feb. 16-19.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, Frost will present “How to Flunk Out of College Even When You are Really Smart!”  A description of this presentation states, “If students with learning disabilities want to go to college, many of those who work with them assume that the higher the IQ and the ACT score, the better the students’ chances of success.  The presenter will share data that conflicts this statement and more importantly her understanding of why.”

On Saturday, Feb. 18, Frost will make a presentation with two colleagues ? Char Reed from OPTIONS Transitions to Independence in Carbondale, Ill., and Lynne Neaves from SOAR, in Balsam, NC.  The presentation is titled, “Choosing the Right Postsecondary Option: Insights from Inside.” It is described this way:  “Administrators from three postsecondary options?a gap year, a comprehensive transition program, and a fee-based college support center?will give brief overviews of their programs, identify key characteristics of successful students from each, and then have participants work on case study activities to pair profiles with appropriate programs.”

As chair of the conference’s Adult Topics Committee, Frost is responsible for the half-day Adult Topics Workshop and the Adult Topics Luncheon, both scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17.
