Fall Semester classes begin on Aug. 24

Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks will begin classes for the Fall 2010 semester on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

U of O officials are expected to welcome more than 200 new students to campus on Thursday, Aug. 19, for New Student Orientation as the university sets to begin its 176th academic year. This year’s theme for New Student Orientation is “iOzarks: Get Connected.”

The university’s residence halls will open on Aug. 19, and New Student Orientation will begin with the annual President’s Picnic that evening at the President’s Home.  New Student Orientation will include a welcome ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 20; the New Student Matriculation Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 20; and small group sessions for parents and students on Saturday, Aug. 21. There will also be numerous other activities and entertainment throughout the weekend to help students and parents become acclimated to college life.

Other important dates for the Fall 2010 Semester at U of O include: Family Weekend, Oct. 15-16; Fall Break, Oct. 28-29; last day to drop classes, Nov. 9; Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 24-26; last day of regular classes, Dec. 10; final exams, Dec. 13-16; and Fall Commencement, Dec. 15.

There is still time to register for classes at U of O. The final day to register is Aug. 30. For more information on enrolling at Ozarks, call the Admission Office at 479-979-1227.
