The Department of Education announced a further delay to release batches of FAFSA information (ISIRs) to schools until the first half of March.

Eight inducted into Alpha Chi national honor society

Eight students from University of the Ozarks were recently inducted into the Arkansas Delta Chapter of Alpha Chi, the prestigious national honor scholarship society.

During an induction ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Munger Chapel, the eight students officially joined the society that represents one of the highest academic honors at any university. U of O president Richard L. Dunsworth, Provost Dr. Dan Taddie and Alphi Chi sponsor and professor Dr. Fiona Murphy took part in the ceremony.

Among the new members of Alpha Chi are (front row, from left) Emily Black, a junior marketing major from Clarksville; Chelsey Becker, a junior business and art major from Claremore, Okla.; Andrea Villafranca, a junior management and marketing major from Honduras; Mollie Palmer, a junior early childhood major from Benton, Ark.; Catalina Chen Li, a junior international business and English major from Costa Rica; and Todd Turner, a junior biology major from Hot Springs, Ark. The new inductees who were not present were Gerardo Navarrete and Sara Sisemore. Among the returning members of Alpha Chi who attended the ceremony were (back row, from left) Jessica Temple, an early childhood education major from Benton, Ark., and Whitney Lewis, a senior management major from Clarksville.

To be inducted into Alpha Chi, a student must be either a junior or senior, have at least a 3.7 grade point average and have demonstrated leadership, service, integrity and character. The society, founded in 1922, has approximately 300 chapters in 45 states across the country.
