Dr. Glenda Ezell, chair of the Division of Education, has been selected by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe to serve on the Arkansas Early Childhood Commission.

The three-year term began on Aug. 8, 2013, and will run through July 1, 2016.

Ezell was chosen for the new position on the commission to represent institutions of higher education. She was elected by the Arkansas Deans’ Council to represent colleges and universities on the commission.

"I am very honored to be appointed by Governor Beebe to the Early Childhood Commission," Ezell said. "This is a new position created specifically for a representative from  higher education.  I  am an advocate for early childhood education and  I am pleased to have this opportunity to serve my constituents on this commission.   However, most of all, I feel honored and privileged  to serve the children who live in this great state."

Ezell, who earned her Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas, is a graduate of Ozarks. She returned to Ozarks in 1999 when she became the director of field experiences in the Education Division. She has served as chair of the division since 2009.
