Clarksville, Ark.-Texas-Tyler scored a goal 20 seconds into the second half to take the match?s momentum and secure a 4-1 win over the Eagles Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.
Texas-Tyler (7-3-0, 4-1-0 ASC) scored late in the first half after an evenly contested first 45 minutes. Holding a narrow 1-0 lead, the Patriots opened the second half with a quick goal to gain the match’s momentum. In the 68th minute, Texas-Tyler would add another to seemingly put the match out of reach, but Ozarks (2-6-1, 2-4-0 ASC) countered seconds later to make the score 3-1. David Cortes scored his first collegiate goal on a lofted shot to the back post. Prior to that, Shaun Keane had a header in the 57th minute that forced Texas-Tyler goalkeeper Reed Casterlin to make a play on. The Patriots eventually put the match away with a goal in the 74th minute. Texas-Tyler held a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Matt Mouer had a save in 90 minutes in goal.
Ozarks will host LeTourneau University Saturday in ASC action.
