Clarksville, Ark.--The U of O baseball team grabbed victory number 21 on the season as they defeated Louisiana College 10-3 in American Southwest Conference play on Friday afternoon.

Jedd Kirby (8-3) went the distance and extended his school record in wins to eight. Though he gave up 14 hits in his nine innings of work, Kirby was able to escape trouble with help from a solid Ozarks (21-17, 7-12) defense. The Eagles offense went to work in the second inning, scoring five runs on three hits. Plaquemine, Louisiana, native Chris Harrell led off with a walk and later scored when Kyle Hudson hit into a fielder’s choice. A few hitters later, Brett Hays hit a bases loaded double picking up two RBI. Anthony Brandon followed with a single up the middle that scored two more. Louisiana College (19-13, 12-7) scored two in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit to 5-2. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Harrell, Matt Tito and Todd Koch each had RBI singles as the Eagles plated four runs in all to push the advantage to 9-2. The Eagles would tack one more run on for good measure when Caleb Hilton led off the eighth with a triple. Brandon would then single to left field to push Hilton across the plate. Ozarks tallied nine hits in the contest, with Hilton and Brandon each leading the team with two. Brandon had three RBI. Kirby recorded six strikeouts in the win, pushing his season total to 44. The two teams square off tomorrow in what will be designated as "Senior Day." A ceremony honoring seniors Chris Harrell and Caleb Hilton will be held at 11:45 a.m. The double-header begins at noon.
