Eagles Remain In First Place After UT-Dallas Win

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Eagles remain in a first-place tie in the American Southwest Conference East Division after a 81-68 win over UT-Dallas on Saturday.

Ozarks held a 45-33 lead at halftime thanks to a solid shooting performance. The Eagles shot 17-of-34 (50%) from the field and 8-of-8 (100%) from the free throw line. Reggie Brasfield canned 3-of-3 three-pointers in the first twenty minutes of action to give the Eagles an offensive boost. The Eagles also made an impact in the rebounding department, grabbing 26 rebounds and limiting the Comets to 18. Ozarks maintained its lead in the second half behind 15 points from Johnson. The Eagles came through at the free throw line, hitting 18-of-21 (85%) from the charity stripe in the game. Johnson’s 23 points led the squad and marked the fifth straight game in which he has scored 20 or more points. Tyler Field followed with 15 points and Brasfield added 13 points. Joyner and Taylor had 6 rebounds apiece to lead the team. The Eagles travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College on January 29 and to Clinton, Mississippi, to take on Mississippi College on January 31.
