Eagles Fall Short In Second Half Comeback Against McMurry

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles second half comeback efforts fell short as McMurry picked up a 95-93 win in American Southwest Conference crossover play in Abilene, Texas.

The McMurry Indians (3-1) would take advantage of their 59 free throw opportunities to pull out a two-point victory over the Eagles (1-3). The Indians hit 44 of their 59 foul shots (74%) while the Eagles made only 14-of-32 (43%) of their opportunities at the charity stripe. Ozarks trailed 45-37 at intermission after shooting 34 percent from the field. The Eagles would make a valiant comeback in second half play, shooting a solid 57 percent from the field and outscoring the Indians 56-50. However, the Indians made 26-of-36 (72%) from the free throw line in the second half to seal the win. The Eagles forced 28 turnovers in the game and out rebounded the Indians 39-28. Sophomore forward David Hamilton came off the bench and led the team with a career-high 24 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Sophomore guard Josh Joyner scored 20 points and senior guard Reggie Brasfield continued to sizzle from beyond the three-point line. Brasfield nailed 5-of-8 three-pointers on his way to scoring 17 points. Junior guard Brent Johnson had 12 points and a team-best 4 steals. Ozarks continues crossover action when they host Mary-Hardin Baylor on December 4 and Concordia-Austin on December 6. Crossover games with ASC West division opponents do not count in the conference standings this season.
