Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA III South/Southeast Regional Saturday in Memphis.
The men’s team finished among the top-20 teams at the race. Ozarks was the highest finisher among American Southwest Conference teams, including ASC champion Texas-Tyler. It was the first time Ozarks has finished higher than Texas-Tyler in any race since the two teams have competed in the ASC. Tristan Cooper ran a 26:07 in the 8K, placing him 14th overall. Cooper just missed qualifying for the national race as he was seven seconds behind the final qualifier. David James ran a 26:24 for a 25th-place finish. Calvin Jones (27:57), Matthew Friant (28:05), Calvin Scharf (28:37), Trent Ueunten (29:49), Jeremy Provence (30:44) and Max Hilgendorf (32:00) rounded out the team’s runners. The women’s team finished 23rd out of 25 teams. Ashley Teague was the top finisher for Ozarks, running a 25:47 in the 6K. Tadera Garland (26:25), Samantha Sparks (26:54), Lindsey Kellaway (29:30) and Lacey Mainer (30:27) followed Teague.
