Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks officials are expecting to welcome more than 200 freshmen on campus Aug. 17 for New Student Orientation as the university kicks off the 2006-2007 academic year
The residence halls will open on Thursday, Aug. 17, and New Student orientation will begin with the annual President???s Picnic at 6 p.m., Aug. 17, at the president???s Home. Classes begin on Tuesday, Aug. 22. New Student Orientation will include an orientation welcome, a matriculation ceremony and small group sessions for parents and students. There will also be numerous other activities and entertainment to help students and parents become acclimated to college life. ???We want to provide as much information as possible for students and their parents to make the transition to college easier and to make their years at Ozarks more productive,??? said Sherrie Arey, dean of residential and campus life. There is still time to register for classes at U of O. The final day to register is Aug. 28. For more information on enrolling at Ozarks, call the Admissions Office at 479-979-1227. Other important dates for the Fall 2006 Semester at U of O include: Family Weekend, Oct. 13-15; mid-term grades distributed, Oct. 27; Fall Break, Oct. 26-27; last day to drop, Nov. 7; Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 22-24; last day of regular classes, Dec. 8; and final exams, Dec. 11-14.
