Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks junior left fielder Andrew Teaster was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Hitter of the Week, it was announced by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst Tuesday.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Hollister, Missouri, went 9-for-18 with three doubles, a triple and a home run to pace a 3-1 week, which included a pair of wins over East Division opponent LeTourneau University. Teaster also drove in seven runs, scored six times and walked twice during the week. He was a single short of the cycle in the series opener against LeTourneau March 28. Teaster had back-to-back three-hit games during the week, including a three-hit, three-RBI performance against Hendrix College March 26.
Teaster has started in 22 games and is batting .370, second highest on the team, with 17 RBI and 30 hits. He earned All-Conference honors and was ASC Hitter of the Week once his freshman season.
He is a graduate of Hollister High School where he earned All-State, All-Conference and All-District honors his senior season.
The Eagles (12-15, 6-6) will host Louisiana College in a three-game series this Friday and Saturday.
