Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks 2012 Alumni Weekend 5K Run/Walk, scheduled for Saturday, April 21, has been moved back to campus.
The annual race was originally scheduled to be held for the first time on the university’s new cross country course, but the trail is soggy in some places due to recent rains, according to Ozarks Cross Country Coach Brian Hull.
Instead, the 3.1-mile race will begin and end in the Mabee Gymnasium parking lot on the north end of campus. The course will meander through area neighborhoods. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the race will begin at 8 a.m.
The race is sponsored and organized by the university’s men’s and women’s cross country teams. Proceeds from the race will help support the teams.
There will be medals awarded to the top finishers in several age groups, and T-shirts will be given to race participants. The cost to enter the race is $20 for pre-registered runners and $25 on the morning of the race. Current U of O students can participate for $10 if they pre-register and $15 on the day of the race.
