How would you like to experience the gravesite of John Calvin, the famous City of Righteous that became a haven for Jews fleeing from the Nazis during World War II, the Cluny Abbey that stood as the largest Christian structure in the world for five centuries, and the prominent ecumenical monastic order that makes up the French community of Taize?

The University of the Ozarks Alumni Association is offering a guided nine-day tour through Switzerland and France in September that follows the sites of the Reformation.

The Reformation Pilgrimage 2015 tour will run from Sept. 7-15 and will be guided by The Rev. John E. King, a long-time Presbyterian minister, professor and U of O trustee. The trip is being presented by the U of O Alumni Association and Educational Opportunities Tours and is open to both alumni of Ozarks as well as the general public.

The cost of the trip is $4,296 from Fayetteville, Ark., and $3,798 from New York. The cost includes roundtrip airfare, guided tours, lodging, transportation, and two meals a day. There is an optional five-day extension to Scotland for an additional $1,228.

The tour follows several historical and significant sites of the Reformation in Switzerland and France and includes the Reformation Memorial and St. Pierre’s Cathedral in Geneva; Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, the City of the Righteous in France; Cluny Abbey and Taize; Fontainebleau; and the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

"This is an incredible opportunity to experience the historical sites that have been instrumental in the Reformed faith traditions," said Ashley Senter, director of alumni relations at Ozarks. "I am so excited to partner with Rev. King and Educational Opportunities Tours as we embark on our first trip abroad with Ozarks alumni, Presbyterians, and friends.  We will see so many historical sites while in Europe, many specific to the Reformation, and we will make friendships to last a lifetime. This is a 5-star trip you don’t want to miss."

The 5-day extension to Scotland is set for Sept. 15-19 and will include a flight from Paris to Edinburgh as well as guided visits to the Edinburgh Castle, the John Knox House, the Lindisfarne abbey, Berwick on the Tweed and much more.
