Giving Societies

Lifetime Giving Societies

The University of the Ozarks honors its donors who foster a tradition of philanthropy by recognizing those who make substantial lifetime gifts with inclusion to the Earle Society and the T. L. Smith Society.

The Earle Society

The Earle Society is named in honor of Dr. F.R. Earle, who served as president of both Cane Hill College and Arkansas Cumberland College. The Earle Society recognizes donors who have a lifetime giving record of $1 million or more to University of the Ozarks.

The T.L. Smith Society

T.L. “Prof” Smith, much loved former professor at Ozarks, is honored by this giving club. T.L. Smith Society members have a lifetime giving record of $100,000 to $999,999.

Annual Giving Societies

These giving societies recognize members on an annual basis and stress the importance of unrestricted giving to the University.

What does it really mean to be a giving society member? Making annual gift(s) at one of the giving society levels allows you to play an important role in the financial health of Ozarks and makes a powerful statement about how much you value an Ozarks education.

Planned Giving Societies

The Legacy Society honors donors who have designated the University of the Ozarks to receive gifts at some time in the future or following their lifetime. These deferred or estate gifts may be in the form of assets transferred at the time of death and may include such things as:

  • Gifts from retirement plans
  • Gifts through your will or living trust
  • Gifts of life insurance that may no longer be needed
  • Gifts designating Ozarks as a Payable on Death (POD) or a Transfer on Death (TOD) for checking accounts, savings accounts or certificates of deposit

A misconception is that planned giving is only for the wealthy. The truth is, even people of modest means can make a difference through planned giving.
