University of the Ozarks will present a soft opening of its new campus coffee shop for the Clarksville community on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Campus Perks, located on the northeast corner of the first floor of Robson Library, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 12, for members of the Clarksville community. The coffee shop will officially open on Aug. 25, the first day of classes for the fall semester.

The University’s new coffee shop, Campus Perks, will serve Starbucks coffee and drinks when it officially opens on the first day of classes, Aug. 25.

Owned by the university’s food service provider, Aramark, Campus Perks is affiliated with the Starbucks Coffee Company and will serve Starbucks coffee and drinks. It will also serve pastries, salads, sandwiches, wraps, cookies and tea.

"The coffee shop will be a great addition to our Ozarks and Clarksville communities," said U of O Provost Travis Feezell. "This gives all of us a place to connect and reflect during our busy lives. And, a great cup of coffee with great service is an added bonus."

The name Campus Perks was selected through a campus-wide naming contest. Feezell said several students suggested the winning name and that more than 100 name suggestions were submitted.

Housed in what was formerly conference rooms, the 1,500-square foot coffee shop will have seating for approximately 50 people.

LaTanya Shook will serve as the Campus Perks supervisor and it will employ four Aramark employees as well as several students on a part-time basis, according to Stephen Kerr, Aramark food services director.

Beginning on Aug. 25, Campus Perks will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday; and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The days and hours will vary when school is not in session.

There will be parking for the community on the south side of the library, accessible off North Johnson Street.
