Clarksville, Ark.-Senior forward Guido Salas scored the equalizer in the 44th minute and then Ozarks benefitted from an own goal in the 82nd minute to take a 2-1 win over Schreiner University Thursday in American Southwest Conference action.

Ozarks improves to 5-6-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the ASC with the win and will host Texas Lutheran University Saturday.

Schreiner (1-9-0, 1-5-0 ASC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Philip Anderson found the back of the net in the 9th minute. Ozarks evened the score when Salas scored his third goal of the season on a beautiful shot just before halftime. Schreiner led at the half in shots (6-3) and corner kicks (4-0). But the Eagles patiently worked the ball around in the second half and eventually had several chances to score. Tanner Holman peppered a shot in the 67th minute that forced Schreiner goalkeeper Matt Johnson to make a leaping save and knock it over the crossbar. Senior defender Logan Hornback had a trio of headers that could have put the Eagles in a favorable lead in the second half. Ironically, it was an own goal that Ozarks benefitted from most. Johnson attempted to clear a ball with his fists, but the ball sailed behind him, hit a defender and went in the goal.

Ozarks totaled eight shots in the match, with Hornback leading the attack with three.

Neil Thompson made six saves for Ozarks.
