University of the Ozarks will hold its 2013 Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 11, on the campus mall.

The Commencement ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Robson Library. Preceding Commencement there will be a Baccalaureate Service beginning at 9 a.m. in Munger Memorial Chapel. The ceremonies will honor 79 graduates, which includes several December 2012 and summer 2013 graduates.

University President Dr. Rick Niece, who is retiring in June after 16 years at Ozarks, will be the keynote speaker during Commencement. The title of his speech will be, “As We Leave This Place Together.”

Ana Hernandez, a management and environmental studies major from La Ceiba, Honduras, will provide greetings from the graduating class. Ozarks Professor of Life Science Education and Environmental Studies Dr. Kim Van Scoy will represent the faculty at the podium.

University Chaplain Rev. Elizabeth Gabbard will offer the proclamation, Strong and Courageous, during the Baccalaureate Service.

KUOZ plans to live-stream baccalaureate and commencement on the University’s UStream channel, http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kuoz. However, if the weather changes and the crew is unable to relocate the equipment in time for the ceremony, the event will be available on DVD later this summer. DVDs may be pre-purchased through the Registrar’s office.
